Ice Cream Sundae Bar

Nothing beats the end of a summer day better than an ice cream sundae. It will literally put the cherry on top of your day. Now add this to the end of a summer (or any season) birthday party and it will be the whipped cream and cherry on top kinda day!

Now I’ve done this twice for my kids. Once was one of their birthday parties (we had cake too, but a small one just to sing Happy Birthday), and just yesterday for a 4th of July BBQ that I was invited to. They were hits both times among the kids and adults. The possibilities are endless, so you can make it as wide or slim of a selection as you’d like or can afford..

Essentials

I make variations to the board above, but there are always a few necessities (or at least in my household) when creating an Ice Cream Sundae Bar:

  1. Waffle Bowls - sometimes they’re available at your local supermarket, but if they’re not Amazon always comes through. Every kid doesn’t always like waffle bowls, so then we go for the…

  2. Sugar Cones or Cup Cones or Waffle Cones - these are sure to satisfy any cone lover.

  3. Plastic Ice Cream Bowls for those who don’t like cones or Disposable Paper Dessert Bowls if you want to the the quick and easy, disposable route.

  4. Maraschino Cherries - these are the perfect ending to an ice cream sundae! To me, these are a must-have—an ice cream sundae is nothing without a cherry on top (or 3!)

  5. Chocolate Syrup - need I say more? This is a sundae staple as well!

  6. Caramel Syrup - because you can’t stop with just chocolate…

  7. Strawberry Syrup - or chocolate and caramel.

  8. Marshmallow Topping - a nice fluffy topping!

  9. Gummy Bears or Gummy Worms - or a gummy candy of your choice.

  10. Cookie Variety Pack - this offers Chips Ahoy, original Oreos, and golden Oreos all in one box. I like to crush these up into chunky pieces before putting them in my Ice Cream Bar.

  11. Hershey’s Chocolate Candy - depending on my kids’ requests, I either put these out whole or crush them up. I separate them, of course.

  12. Reese’s Peices and M&Ms - these are great spinkled on top.

  13. Rainbow or Chocolate Sprinkes - I looooove sprinkles!

  14. Chocolate Chips - because why not add more chocolate!?!??!

  15. Anything your heart desires! The list can be endless!

Add fresh fruit, more syrups, different flavored ice creams, more candy, nuts, whatever you can think of or feel like at the moment! Anything goes!
