Welcome to Sweet and Sassy Loves, my outlet for all things (single) mom related. I’m a single mom surviving the eye-rolls, mood swings, and bottomless snack cravings that come with simultaneously raising a tween and teen. This blog is all about keeping it real — and I mean real like “my kid just asked me if she can go to the park afterschool after ignoring my texts all day” kind of real.
I don’t have it all together. Some days I feel like a superhero, other days I’m wondering if I can legally list someone on eBay. I deal with hormonal teens, broken AirPods, and missing hoodies like it’s my job — and let’s just say, I’ve mastered the art of showing up even when I don’t feel like I look the part.
This is a judgment-free zone full of messy stories, hard-won wisdom, sarcastic commentary, and the occasional beauty hack that doesn’t involve a full head of hair. If you’re navigating growing kids, shrinking patience, and the emotional rollercoaster that is adolescence (and parenthood)— welcome. You’ve found your people.
Pour the coffee (or the wine, no judgment)(or the whiskey, super no judgment), and let’s laugh, vent, and survive these teenage years together — one unpredictable day at a time.
Who We Are
Welcome to the mom life of my Sweet and Sassy Loves aka my daughters. One is sweet and one is sassy, but I’m never quite sure which child will fit each category on any given day!
Now ages 11 and 13 (yes, I have a teen 😳), they have become the highlights of my life, each and everyday. We have our ups, and we have our downs, as any family of 3 females will have. Together though, I think we lean on each other for support daily and they continue to teach me lessons about life each and everyday.
In addition to my girls, I have a wonderfully energetic nephew (11), two precious nieces (2 & 3), and two handsome godsons (3 & 5).
“As a single mom, I’ve always looked to entertain my children on a budget, oftentimes looking for free events, steep discounts, or creating experiences of my own from scratch. “

My Story
Hi! I’m Ginger, founder and creator of Sweet and Sassy Loves! I’m a proud girl mom of both a teen and pre-teen, both who want to do everything and nothing at all, all at once. We live in (New) Jersey, right outside of New York City…so I like to say we have the world right outside our door. There’s always something to do, but the funds and time aren’t always there.
I created this blog to highlight some of my ‘mom-finds’ as I like to call them…great deals, places to go for the day, family activities, and quick and easy recipes. I also do a bunch of research about products and vacations before I make any big purchases, so I’ll throw in what I find too.
Professionally, I am a teacher in a large urban school district about 10 miles outside of New York City. Alongside my own children, I consider my students my own babies as well…so, potentially I have had hundreds of children over the last 18 years! They help keep my mind sharp and always on the lookout for fun activities (or a watchful eye out on that new Tik Tok trend)!
Personally, I am a single mom who has been rocking it solo since my younger daughter was 8 months old. It’s been extremely tough at certain points along the way, but the rewarding moments far outweigh the struggles. I am so proud of me and my girls!
As a single mom, I’m out here doing my best to give my girls all the magical memories I had growing up — plus a few Pinterest-inspired extras (on a Walmart budget). I wouldn’t call myself cheap... but let’s just say I spend way too much time on my favorite shopping websites waiting for items in my cart to go on sale and get irrationally excited about BOGO deals (that equals 50% off if you buy two!).
I’m a proud connoisseur of free events, coupon codes, and “fun things to do at home that don’t require me to put on a bra.” I’ve been known to ask my kids if they want to go somewhere special, then immediately spiral about how much it costs and how we “have food at home.” They’re used to it. It builds character. LoL.
And yep — the bald look? That’s not a fashion statement (though I do pull it off pretty well, hahaha). I have alopecia universalis, which I developed in 2019. It’s actually the second time I’ve lost all my hair, but unlike the first time — when it grew back after about three months — this round seems to be permanent.
Six years later, it’s safe to say my hair’s not making a comeback, and honestly, I’ve made peace with that. I’ve got bigger things to focus on — like raising two daughters and trying to remember where I put my keys..or phone…or wallet(…or hat!).
I don’t mind the looks or the questions. So if you’re curious, just ask. No awkwardness necessary — I’d rather have an honest conversation than pretend it’s not a thing.
